If you are having guests over and need an easy dessert recipe, then this one should be your go to because it’s a pretty simple recipe with few ingred̾i̾ents. A warm, delicious way to enjoy a hot fudge sundae! Serve with any flavor of ice cream.
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp baking cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 cups hot water
Using nonstick cooking spray, coat a 2-3 quart slow cooker.
Combine flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
After that, add the milk, oil, and vanilla essence.
Stir everything together until it’s well blended, then fold in the nuts.
Pour evenly batter into your slow cooker.
Mix together brown sugar and remaining 4 tbsp. cocoa powder in a separate bowl and stir in hot water until smooth and combined.
Spread evenly over batter in a slow cooker. Don’t stir!
Cover and cook for 2-2 1/2 hours on high. To test if it is done, a toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean or with just a hint of cake crumbs on it.
Allow the cake to rest for 30-40 minutes before serving, uncovered.
You will have your cake layer on the top. Fudge sauce is underneath that cake layer. Slice up the cake and place it on a platter or bowl.
Then take a spoonful of the hot fudge sauce from on the bottom and drizzle it over the cake.
Serve warm cake with ice cream if desired. Top with ice cream and a cherry!
